Have you ever tried to be experimental with food? If yes and If you love to experiment with food, then this is a must try recipe for you. This traditional and lip-smacking dish is an experiment with big Lemons or Malta, a variety of orange cultivated in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand.

The tarting taste of malta and the fusing taste of sugariness, acerbic and souring makes Khatai a lip-smacking and delicious dish. For making this dish you have to make homemade salt from the below following ingredients. I am using Silbatta (Grinding stone) for this dish, you can use a blender.

So, let’s jump to the ingredients going to use in making this lip-smacking salad

INGREDIENT(Serves 2)

Homemade salt:

  • 5-6 Chillies
  • 4-5 Garlic cloves
  • 1 Inch Ginger
  • 1 tablespoon Cumin seeds(jeera)

3-4 Malta’s or big lemons

Sugar 4-6 tablespoon

HOW TO MAKE(Recipe):

First, prepare mise for the salad, means to make sure all the ingredients are ready to use.

Gather all the ingredients in the Silbatta (Chillie, Garlic, Ginger, Cumin, Salt)

Start crushing and grinding the ingredients in silbatta (Grinding stone)

Make a nice paste of the salt. ”You can also use this paste for other uses”

Now come to the main ingredient, Malta and cut it into small pieces. In this image I have not removed seeds, you must remove seeds from the cut pieces of Malta’s.

Add Fine Sugar to the malta and mixed properly.

Then, add then salt paste you have made earlier, as per taste

Your mouth-watering salad is ready to serve. You can savor this dish any time and also as a salad in your dining table.

After the first bite, you will definitely smack your lips…
